Dalmore Guest Farm
Northern Drakensberg
Situated on a farm bordering the Spioenkop Dam, Dalmore is a quaint family friendly destination/establishment, offering either self catering, B&B or dinner, B&B. Roughly midway between Bergville and Winterton, Dalmore is a wonderful venue for small conferences (numbers up to 25) and weddings (up to 80), offering a real rustic feel good experience. We aspire to provide a family friendly destination with good value for money, a place where parents can relax and children run free.
Dalmore looks onto the Northern Berg off to the west and Spoienkop Hill to the north, scene of one of the most remarkable battle fought in the Anglo-Boer war. Separating Dalmore from the battlefield Monument is Spioenkop Dam, a true water enthusiasts paradise. Access to Spioenkop Dam is across our farm and can be managed by non 4x4 vehicles but high clearance is recommended. Boat launching is allowed. Spioenkop Dam, the last dam on the Tugela, is an ideal for all watersports, great for swimming, fishing, canoeing, sailing and boating.
Neighbouring Dalmore is the Spioenkop Nature Reserve, teeming with a variety of game species including Rhino, Giraffe, Jackal, Zebra, Kudu, Eland and many other smaller antelope. The reserve also offers a very popular and enjoyed horse trail that follows the game tracks. Rhino sightings on the trail are very common.
It is little more than a stones throw through to most of the berg resorts for the golfing and serious hiking enthusiasts. White water rafting, 4 wheeler and motorbike trails, zip lines, bungee jumps and helicopter flips are all available from one of the nearby berg valleys, while our hiking and mountain biking routes are all on the doorstep. From rides and walks around the complex to valley and mountain trips for the more fearless, the berg really is a spectacular place to explore.
